  • Water appears in sample when incubating for stability test

    Hi everyone,

I try stability test for some of my emulsions by using a incubator at 45oC. However I see some liquid on top of the creams, even though their containers are sealed very tightly.

I have checked and the liquid seems to be hydrophillic, and because it stays on top, I dont think my emulsions are broken down.

Is it because humidity in the incubator? It is often at 70-80%. If it is so, how do you deal with it?

    Thank you,

If it is water…it would evaporate in short order. Guessing something else (syneresis). Any squalane or silicone oils in the formula?

No Squalane or silicone though. I heard someone said that because of high humidity, if space in the container is too much, there is a big risk that water would appear. Thats why they always leave very little space on top. What do you think?

dab some of this liquid on a tissue….see it it evaporates…. or leaves an oily residue. At least you can confirm what it is…and then progress.

It is just water from the empty space in your package.

It happens to me all the time
