Warming, Burning or Tingling Sensation
I’ve been working on some formulas for a work project and about 1/3rd of our focus group is experiencing what they describe as a ‘warming’, ‘tingling’ or ‘burning’ sensation when applying the product. No redness occurs and the sensation disappears within at least 1 minute.
I’ve noticed that samples without the preservative Phenoxyethanol + Caprylyl Glycol do not have this same warming sensation… Has anyone come across a similar situation with Phenoxyethanol? In the products its in at upwards of 0.85% concentration w/w. I’m having difficulty with my research on Phenoxyethanol causing such a sensation as it has a lot of mixed media regarding its use.
