Doing some researchement about w/o emulsion i noticed that the  required hlb of same oil change from w/o to o/w ( example hlb mineral oil in o/w 10 however hlb in w/o 7)
so i’m thinking why this difference ?
Then searching required hlb of w/o emulsion i can find just 3 oils, so  have any one reference for required hlb w/o emulsion of more oils or w/o emulsion has limited oils can be used ( as mineral oil) ?

I have attached a document I use for HLB values of Oils. However I have not heard of a difference in HLB values of oils for w/o and o/w emulsions before so I can’t help there.

Fekher you can even use esters (high HLB) to make W/O. Type of emulsion depends on the emulsifier used, not oils. If you have glyceryl stearate and ,say, caprylic/capric triglycerides or IPM you can experiment with it to see that it works.

Thanks @ngarayeva001 and you have right about that type of emulsion depends on type of emulsifier . About Ester it is new information however i read that required hlb for w/o emulsion is generally lower then 7 so is it possible to make it with esters with higer hlb ( hlb of glyceryl stearate is already lower then 7) ?
Just to be precise hlb i found for ester are only for o/w ( exemple IPM =11.5 ) so i guess if it is possible doing w/ester emulsion required hlb will be different from required hlb ester/w .

HLB of glyceryl stearate is 3.8 and you can make w/o emulsion with glyceryl stearate and IPM. I would say it’s much better to make w/o emulsions with esters because they are less greasy. W/O emulsions tend to be quite greasy by nature. HLB system isn’t that precise. It’s just a starting point.

@Neil this prove required hlb of same oil change from w/o to o/w
