    How r u, y friends ??

    Hope you all are ok..

I have a chemical question, please

Is any of these ingrediants can cause reduce the viscosity of the cream and turning it to liquid

    Silk protien 3%

    Fish Collagen 1%

    Alfa arbutine 1%

    Niacinamide 1.5%

    Kojic acid 1%

    Backuchiol 2%

    Resveratrol 1%

Ethanol 0.5% as solvent for resveratrol

    Phenoxyethanol 1%

    Potassium sorbate 0.5%

I make a cream using a staple formula i use it many times before … containing cetearyl alcohol ..stearic acid .. steareth 20 … as emulsifiers and viscosity total 12%

    70% water

    15% oils

10% phase c water using to solve and melt the active ingrediants that need water to melt.

This formula i used it before still staible and thick for long time but when i use it this time and decide to add this list of active ing notice this changing hapeened

can u help me please thinking and investigating about this behaviour ?????????????

Ps . I used this formula before for making soft cream without adding bakuchiol , potassium sorbat , ethanol 99, and Resveratrol.. the viscosity didn’t change..

    Thank u

The culprit might be ethanol 99. It’s viscosity reducer. Not sure about other ingredients. How many ethanol you added? And why you are using ethanol 99?

I used 2grams of ethanol for arround 150 g of cream this is the first time i use ethanol in creams i want to try add resveratrol and the melting way is mixing it with water and little ethanol and mono propyleneglycol to be sure that it melt then add it to the cream in 40 c ..almost all active ingrediants i added when my cream cool down and the temperature reach 40 _35c

Can you try one sample without Potassium sorbate? If your formula is sensitive to electrolytes, adding potassium sorbate could bring your viscosity down (I add it during the cool down phase and with very low shear, to prevent viscosity loss). I’d be better though to use Sodium benzoate. Phenoxyethanol could also reduce your viscosity.
