    Hey folks,

I’m trying to formulate a toner for my personal use it has the following ingredients :

Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate - up to 100
    Dimethyl Isosorbide - 0.50
    Propanediol - 1.50
    Pantothenyl Ethyl Ether - 0.50
Dimethylaminoethanol Bitartrate , Aqua, Triethanolamine, Phenoxyethanol - 0.50
    Propanediol, Ethylhexylglycerin - 0.50
Water, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate - 1.00

I found this toner to be very greasy - what i’m doing wrong and why does this toner feel greasy. Also in not sure if my preservative system is good for the Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate as it is a yeast base and its just killing everything?

    Please advice
    Thank you
    Marina

    Hey Pattsi,

Thank you so much getting back to me
The Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate is not an extract and the supplier recommends up to 100% usage

I believe that some of my other ingredients creates that greasiness, will try with and without since nobody can help me on this :)

    Thank you so much

I know of Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate that’s why I suggested try 10- 15 and work your way up until you meet your desired texture.
    Happy formulating.

@MarinaReneia The only thing that captured my eye is the Pantothenyl ethyl ether. That, and perhaps the amount of Propanediol (although, it’d feel sticky rather than oily, and at that level it should absorb easily). Good luck!

    Hey Folks,

I was testing by taking out one ingredient at the time, looks like Water, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate or as call “preservative eco” is the one that made my product greasy.

My question now is Propanediol, Ethylhexylglycerin at 1.00% or “Mild preservative eco” is going to be enough to preserve my product ? - I know I need to do a stability test and a microbe test and make sure that is safe, but before doing that I was just wondering if that will be enough to preserve my product  :) is my first time using this preservative and I don’t know if is also good enough and or will affect my Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate
    I appreciate your respond

    Thank you so much,
    Marina
