    Follow the WHO instructions, but frankly, I am horrified at the idea of totally unqualified people with no knowledge attempting this.

    @Belassi - I agree.

    But if someone is going to attempt to make hand sanitizer, please follow the guidelines by the WHO.

    If you are going to use IPA, you’ll need to start with 99% active material. And don’t dilute it under 70%

    if you’ve got hydrogen peroxide in there, forget about trying to make a Carbopol-style gel - that stuff attacks and degrades even the hardiest of polymers

    Thanks Perry.
    I am making sanitizer with same WHO guide lines, but my senior asked me to make it gel like,i am trying with this formulation
    IPA 99%—75.15%
    h2o2 3%

    4.17%
    Glycerol 98%—-1.45%
    H2O

    19.23%
    CARBOPOL 0.5GM
    but is not yet succeeded in formulation.

    Junaid follow what Bill has recommended, you cannot make peroxide containing carbomer gel. Remove it and try Ultrez grades which are generally used for sanitizers. Though no restriction if you can manage with 940 grade and for neutralisation TEA 99%, AMP-95, etc. can be used. Search this forum and you will find many discussions and finished formulations.

    I am having tough time during making ng 80% ethanol gel as it consumes more carbopol and due to high prices it’s cost goes higher…
    A customer want it with WHO recommendations but with gel not liquid I mad it once but its tolerance towards TEA is very low at higher concentration.
    I have a meeting today in evening for this quality requirements. What should be the best percentage of Ethanol that can work in these conditions?

    You should be able to use 80% ethanol with carbomer. Neutralize with AMP Ultra instead of TEA.
