Thickening agent compatible with high salt content
Im making a hand cleaner using 70% ethanol, 29.4 % H20, 0.6% polymer thickener then adding a decent amount of Calcium carbonate as an abbrasive.
The salt content in the calcium carbonate seems to break down the polymer thickners I have been using. Can anyone suggest a thickening agent than can handle the high salt content?I have tried the guar’ s but do not like the sticky feeling they leave on the skin. Any suggestions are appreciated -

“Salt”? Where is the salt?
Calcium carbonate is quite basic. Is the thickener you’re using suitable for use in a basic environment? -
Have you tried mineral thickeners? Veegum or Laponite?

Sodium alginate might also be worth a try.

What is the polymer thickener you are using? Also, what is the ending pH?
