Hi, I am confused about which type of surfactants can be thickened with salt.  My inquiry is specifically related to shampoos and body washes.  Can both Anionic and Nonionic be thickened with salt?  I am that there are other options and the necessity of doing a salt curve, but have always been confused about this.

Hi, I just read Perry’s post on this and it seems clear to me that salt works as a thickener with anionic and anionic/nonionic combinations due to charge density.  Any comments are welcome.  thank you

Yes, it works primarily on Anionic systems. Non-ionics can be used as secondary surfactants to help with thickening.
