Sulfonic acid + caustic soda neutralization
Dear friends,
I’m trying to neutralize sulfonic acid 96% (4,4KG) with 50% caustic soda solution (1,20KG) and i got a yellowish paste as result, so everything went well, after PH test it appears that sulfonic acid is fully neutralized. Now i would like to know what is the percentage of active matter in this resulting paste, is it 96% ?

did u mean ABS (alkyl benzene sulphonate)? each molecule LABSA (mw=329) need 3 molecule of lye (NaOH mw=40) just calculate it, it seem need 1540 gram NaOH, it should be resulted white with slightly yellowish paste

Active content is (75%)
Sodium sulfate approximately (2%)
Water is (23%) -

Exactely i meant alky benzene sulphonate, and as you said it resulted with a slightly yellowish paste.

There maybe other things too. I don’t know.
You may add preservative too
