Heard that new material for nail polish, Styrene Acrylic Copolymer, is healthy and it’s also NC free, odorless, Phthalate free, Paraben-free, Toluene free, Formaldehyde free, and Acetate free.

I know such as acquarella and sun coat nail polish produced this.

I’m in formulating this nail polish, i’m having trouble at thickening the formula, anyone have formula for this kind of nail polish?
It would help me so much. Also may i have your opinions about this nail polish? maybe from safety side or healthy side? thanks.

styrene copolymers have been used to opacify cosmetic products for years with no safety issues; the most important aspect from a toxicological point of view is that they’re usually huge molecules (on the order of 500,000 Da), so little if any is absorbed into the body

as for thickeners, I’d suggest using a cellulosic thickener such as hydroxyethylcellulose, carboxymethylcellulose or Methocel, since they have long flow properties, allowing the product to be easily dispensed from a bottle onto a brush, but they also gel the product enough for it not to drip everywhere

Interpolymer makes a water base nail polish as well, similar material but different: Styrene/Acrylates/Ammonium Methacrylate Copolymer.

Shoot me an email and I can send you some starting formulas:  lu@independentchemical.com.

For thickening, basically certain type of polymer thickener and silicate would work better.

    Thanks,
