  • Stearic Acid in Body Wash

Good day to everyone! I’ve been curious with Dove’s body wash as it contains stearic and lauric acid. I was wondering if they are added as is or if they are saponified.

I have lauric and stearic acid lying around and I was wondering if I can just add them to an existing body wash formula. Would there be any benefit from it? I have dry skin and the body wash will be for personal use.

I’m thinking of something like this

    ASM: 11.3
    pH - 4.5 to 5.0

    Sodium Cocoyl Glycinate - 15%
    CAPB - 10%
    Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate - 4%
Sodium Cocoyl Methyl Taurate - 2%
    PEG 7 Glyceryl Cocoate - 1%
    Stearic Acid - 1%
    Fragrance - 1%
    Lauric acid - 0.5%
    Potassium Sorbate - 0.3%
    Sodium Benzoate - 0.3%
    Tetrasodium EDTA - 0.1%
    Distilled Water - q.s.

Tetrasodium EDTA prefers ph > 7. You might want to swap it do disodium.

Also, that would be very liquid. You need a thickener.
