  • Stabilizing Lysolecithin (Lysofix) with Dehydroxanthan Gum

    Hi,
I am playing with a new to me emulsifier, Lysolecithin. I’m making a cold process sprayable emulsion and wanted to know if I can stabilize/thicken it a titch with Dehydroxanthan Gum, which is anionic. So I’m basically trying to figure out if they are compatible. Is Lysosecithin is nonionic or ionic?

    Thank you!

Hi, Anca.  I’m not sure if I can help much, but have you seen this video yet?
I would just use xanthan gum unless there is a reason someone told you to use dehydroxanthan?  If Lysofix is your sole emulsifier, it looks like you will need to use at least 3% of it, and somewhere around 0.5% xanthan gum.

Dehydoxanthan (Amaze XT) has a higher viscosity than traditional xanthan = you can use less.
Lysolecithin is amphoteric and hence, in theory, compatible with anionic polymers. Without knowing what else is in your product, I see no reason why it shouldn’t work.
