  • Stability test on Shampoo

    Hi,

I’m planning to do a stability testing on my shampoo. As bathroom usually is very humid, what type of stability test would you recommend?  Is it the same test as testing a lotion?  e.g. put in an oven for 3 months at 45degree?
    Please advise. Thanks!

@Perry Thanks, Perry! I will try to join the webinar but i have some time differences here in Asia.
May i know if conducting a test on shampoo would be the same as conducting it on a lotion/cream (i.e. oven testing?)  Thanks!

There will be a replay so you can sign up and watch it at a later time.

Yes, the test conditions for a shampoo would be the same as for a lotion. The viscosity & pH measurements may be different depending on the specific formulas.

Unless that’s a shampoo bar that’s left open in a humid bathroom,
shampoo is sold in bottles, so they’d reach equilibrium with the water vapour that tries to evaporate, but can’t because the bottle is closed (although not perfectly sealed)

So a closed bottle stability test replicates real-life humidity conditions.
