Squalene VS Squalane - I hate sharks
Both are lovely emollients, but seems like squalene is gone from the market, and all that is left is the hydrogenated squalane. Now this is great for sharks and product stability, but to me part of the point of squalene IS that it’s unstable and can work as a topical antioxidant. All the research that’s been done has been done on squalene.
It’s not clear to me that the skin can use squalane the same way it uses squalene as a precursor for sterols, including cholesterol, steroid hormones, and vitamin D. I.e. is squalane bioactive in the same way?Now where can I get me some liquid un-encapsulated Squalene?
