Hello team. I hope you are all well! I have a question, I have Texapon 70 (sodium laureth sulfate 70%) For my own personal use,I dilute it it for convenience at 27%, do you need any preservative? the ph is between 8 and 9.

( I guess you diluted it with water, so) Yes, absolutely.

If there was a preservative in original the product, it was only enough to preserve the original product / 70% solution.

If you add water or other ingredients you dilute the preservative and it no longer will perform “strong” enough to preserve it. = microbial growth.

    Hope it makes sense? 🙂

<font style=”vertical-align: inherit;”><font style=”vertical-align: inherit;”>Στο 70% δεν έχει συντηρητικό, είναι αυτοσυντηρούμενο γιατί το ph είναι γύρω στο 12.</font></font>

      <font style=”vertical-align: inherit;”><font style=”vertical-align: inherit;”>
      </font></font>

      <font style=”vertical-align: inherit;”><font style=”vertical-align: inherit;”> When I do it at 27% the ph drops to 9 so if I raise the ph to 11 to 12 I’ll be ok?</font></font>

You can use a preservative or you can increase the pH to 11-12 and it will be self preserved. <div>

    Why is your pH 8-9?

Why you dilute it to 27%?

In my experience diluting to 27% is difficult and time consuming.

The ph when I do it at 27% is close to 9 To raise the ph I will add sodium hydroxide to bring it to 11 and if I want I can put citric acid to make it ph 4 to 5 and put sodium benzoate? It’s difficult when I do it at 27%, it takes patience and time, but after my preparations it’s much easier and faster when I want to make shampoo, I won’t wait long and it doesn’t need heat and I’ll be able to do it at room temperature.

Make a 20% solution instead of 27%. It is much easier to make.

I usually make ~2L of 20% solution in ~2 minutes and use it in my samples.
