Shampoo bar too soft
Hello Everyone,
I am developing a shampoo bar for my wife who has dry curly hair. She normally shampoos once every two weeks and adds oils to her hair as a conditioner after she shampoos.
So i’m trying to develop a solid shampoo that moisturizes and enables her hair to curl. Her hair curls more in the summer with humidity just to give an idea of the type of hair.
I’ve used this formula which she loves loves loves but it doesn’t hold up in the shower. If fact i think it attracts all the moisture that is in the shower to itself so it gets gunky and soft. It is kept out of the water.
Here is my formula in percentages:
26 sci noodles (Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate)
30 Decyl gluciside
21 Slsa (Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate )
7.8 Organic unrefined ghana shea butter
3.7 Cetearyl alcohol
4.9 btms (Behentrimonium Methosulfate (and) Cetearyl Alcohol)
3.3 Stearic acid
2 Panthenol
1.2 hydrolyzed rice protein
.08 honeyquat
.1 essential oilsI first melt the sci with the decyl then i take it off the heat and add everything else except B5, essential oils, honeyquat, rice protein which i add as it is cooler. I will put back on heat if it isn’t melting.
i’m trying to figure out:
1) Are ingredients i’m using redundant?
2) What might be tried to make it a harder bar but still have my wife love it for her hair?Thank you so much for any thoughts. I’m new to formulating outside of making soap and creams.
