CMs, have many clients that require SDS.  When writing an SDS for a product should you use the the customer name within the document of the SDS where applicable or use some type of generic wording meaning the client? I am focusing on the body of the SDS not section 1 where a proper name should appear.

Generic in the body, not specific.

    Another question with SDS…
SDS for a product may include chemicals in the 3 - Compositional statement. What chemicals would normally appear there on a finished goods SDS?  Prop 65 RMs?

Looking at one I have on my desk, I see
    Chemical Name: Emulsion
    Mixtures
Composition comments: The components are not hazardous or are below required disclosure limits.

Prop 65 usually appears in section 15. Regulatory Information

@Stanley Drafting SDS is as much an art as a science. As long as there are no ingredients listed as hazardous in TSCA you may not need to list them in that section - leave it blank. I generally list the chief components with their CAS# just as a courtesy to interested parties. I find that makes them feel better about the safety of the product. As for Section 1, you must name the product as stated on the label, the responsible party for commercial distribution (e.g. the customer-distributor on the label) and of course an address and phone# to contact.  Inform your private label customer and ask them for the phone# to call - they might tell you to list yours. Describe the product as “non-hazardous mixture in an aqueous dispersion” or something generic as @CedarS
suggests. Someday I’ll have to lead a seminar on this topic.

    Thank you gentleman…
this is the finished goods SDS of a shampoo and in section 3 it is listed as this?  Would this be specialty items or priority items?

Another question… is there a major difference between a bulk SDS or a finished good SDS?  Wouldn’t they be the same?  I understand the difference in finished goods COAs but does this apply to finished goods SDS?
