  • Qustion about sulfur powder

I’m trying to make a 5% sulfur ointment. I have some sulfur powder, but I don’t know if it’s precipitated or sublimed sulfur. How can I tell the difference if I have nothing to compare? The powder is really fine, light yellow color, no real bad smell. Precipitated sulfur should be more fine, but the powder I have is not gritty, I think. I could order some sulfur powder that had precipitated sulfur in the description, but if I could find a way to find out if my sulfur is one or another form I would prefer that.

sublimed sulphur is usually finer and purer than precipitated

Thanks for replying. But I thought that it was the other way around - that it was precipitated sulfur that was finer. I guess there is no way of knowing if this is the only sulfur powder I have seen.
