    You must substantiate its safety (chemical, physical, micro) by testing or reference or warn.

    21 CFR 740.10

    A cosmetic is considered misbranded if its safety has not adequately been substantiated, and it does not bear the following conspicuous statement on the PDP:

    Warning - The safety of this product has not been determined.

    Also, if you are going to make any claims about what the product does you’ll need to conduct tests to prove you are not lying.

    @PhilGeis
    @Perry
    Thanks so much for responding. Are there any specific test that need to be performed? This is a message I got from a lab I contacted and wanted to be sure these test are necessary. See below:

    Pricing is attached for:
    standard aerobic plate count (for
    detection of bacterial and fungal contaminants), USP 51
    preservative challenge (for compliance with US
    regulations) and 10 week stability testing (to establish
    up to a 1 year shelf life).

    Please let me know if
    you require testing compliant with EU regulation, and I
    will be happy to update the quotes appropriately for you.

    I am unfamiliar with these test and want to make sure they are needed before I send samples off and my payment. Thanks ????
