  • Problem with my Floor cleaner

Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing well!I am currently working on a formulation for a liquid floor cleaner, and the ingredients I am using are as follows:

    • Treated water with EDTA: 97%
    • NP9 (Tergitol): 1.5%
    • Pearling agent PK3000 (Euperlan): 0.5%
    • Formole (as a preservative): 0.2%
    • Fragrance: 0.75%

However, I am encountering an issue with this formulation. After a couple of days, I notice a white residue forming at the bottom of the container.I would appreciate any insights or suggestions on how to resolve this problem.

    Thank you!

It’s probably the pearlizer. Liquid systems don’t usually have a pearlizer since there’s nothing to suspend it. Can you remove it?

Hi Islam, the white residue is definitely due to the pearling agent. If you want to get a translucent/opaque product, use an opacifier at 0.25%.

The Euperlan Pearlescents require both sufficient viscosity and density to remain stable (Stoke’s Law). It does not look like your formulation would meet these requirements.

      Hi,Thank you for your feedback!

While my formula doesn’t require the highest viscosity, I can’t change the viscosity because the market prefers floor cleaners to be as liquid as water. What suggestions do you propose? Should I consider changing the Euperlan I use, or should I adjust the quantity of Euperlan in my formulation?

I suggest removing the Euperlan because it will not work in a low viscosity formula. If you want an opaque product look at an acrylate opacifier instead.
