    @braveheart - the answer to your question about Sodium Benzoate, etc. really depends on what your consumers think.  If your consumers believe Potassium Sorbate is natural just like coconut oil then it is.  If they don’t believe it’s natural, then it isn’t.

    Groups like ECOCert or NaTru or any of the other standards are just rules made up by those particular organizations.  It’s perfectly fine to follow them and you can even get certified and advertise your certification.  But if your consumer doesn’t know what ECOCert is and doesn’t care I’m not sure there is any real benefit.
    For the moment, natural is either what your company thinks it is or more importantly what your consumer thinks it is.  Regulations might change this in the future but I don’t see that happening any time soon, at least in the US.

    @MarkBroussard and anyone else interested, Schülke & Mayr have a sales office and a warehouse in the UK, and in my experience they are very flexible when it comes to order quantities

    @ Bill_Toge:

    Not only that, Schulke will perform 6 week KOKO challenge tests, free of charge, for any formulation you mail to Germany that contains at least one Schulke ingredient!  All you need to pay is the postage to mail your sample to Schulke.

    Old thread, i know, but i have a question to MarkBroussard
    MarkBroussard<formulating at pH <4.5 not only enhances your preservation efficacy, it also minimally disrupts the acid mantle barrier.>
    What about MAP (magnesium ascorbyl phosphate)  it’s PH supposed to be around 7, does MAP disrupts the acid mantle barrier?

    @kot:

    If your final formulation is around pH 7, yes, it will disrupt the acid mantle barrier.  But, the acid mantle barrier restores itself quicker from an acidic pH disruption than from a basic pH disruption … it will restore in a few hours whereas with an acidic pH disruption, the acid mantle barrier restores within an hour or two.

    @MarkBroussard will Schulke still perform a free KOKO test challenge test for any formulations containing a schulke product?

    @formul8101 I have just sent samples to Schulke recently for Koko testing. So yes they still do it.
    I’m not sure where you are located but check with your Schulke distributor. In Australia they prefer the samples to be shipped from our distributor so we just send the samples to the distributor and then they forward them to Schulke.
