Possible dangerous product, what should I do?
OK, this may not exactly be a formulating question, more of an ethical question.
I just found out that my crazy ex boss (who has an Honours degree Micro Biology and Bio Chemistry) is bottling and selling a lotion that he had made in a very dirty warehouse. He made 400 litres of the stuff but then could not afford the bottles and had other financial issues, so he left the 400 litres lying around for about 8 months in an open huge plastic tub with nothing but a tarp covering it. He sells the product by telling people it will treat eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, etc.
Now I know exactly what the ingredients are because I was making the stuff for a short time and the only preservative he puts in his lotion is Grapefruit Seed Extract (at 1%). I know for a fact that Grapefruit Seed Extract is not really a preservative, it’s the traces of other chemicals from the manufacturing process that may have that effect.
So I am fearful that his product could be dangerous, but I am not sure if I should do anything. I am in Australia by the way. (the picture below shows the current product in the 400 litre tub, it should be a cream color)
