Polyquaternium-7 issues
Hi,
I was wondering if anybody knows or could make an educated guess on what happens if you mix polyquat 7 at a high speed? The manufacturer recommends not to do so (see link below). I’ve been using it for a couple of years in one formulation with no issues, however lately the pq7 seems to be creating a build up and solidifying on the mixing shaft. I think I may be mixing it a little faster than usual which may be the issue. -

When I worked on small batches, I always mixed the PQ7 with about the same amount of water or surfactant before adding it in my product.
For production, we used to add it very slowly on one side af the tank (far from the mixing point) with rapid mixing and we never had any problems.
