Polymethylsilsesquioxane
I’m seeing this ingredient in a lot of make up formulas and I don’t have it. I have Silica Microspheres, Nylon 12, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, boron nitrate and a few other cosmetic powders. Can I use any of those as a substitute? On the subject of substitutes, I constantly find myself needing them because let’s face it, who has an entire stock in their kitchen? Is there one good place to go in order to find them?

No you can’t replace it by any of the listed ingredients. It’s a film former with water resisting properties. It can potentially be replaced by trimethylsiloxysilicate, although they often come in a blend. Both are sold by tkb trading, makingcosmetics and glamourcosmetics.it. If you decide to get pure ingredients you would also need a proper solvent (cyclopenhasiloxane would work).

I think ngarayeva001 is referring to polypropylsilsesquioxane. Not to be confused with polymethylsilsesquioxane.
