    Hi forum.

    Here in Italy (don’t know elsewhere) there is a formulation trend where some detergents are based on PEG. Don’t know if you ever heard about it but I am trying to replicate a similar one since mine is overpriced (22$ for 150 ml and the formula is quite simple IMO) and it is the only product I can use since I have some skin issues.

    I am not planning to use PEG by the way, I have a bunch of PGE with the Same HLB of the next listed.

    Could help me to find the right percentage of emulsifier to use?

    Here’s a part of the formula, Urea is at 5%.

    Aqua, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Cetrimonium Chloride, PEG-6 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, Cocamide Dea, Urea.

    Instead of those PEG I have:

    Olive Oil Polyglyceryl-3 Ester (HLB 12);

    Polyglyceryl-4 Caprate (HLB 14);

    Shea Butter Polyglyceryl-6 Esters (HLB 9).

    And was planning to add CAPB.

    Could you kindly help me?

    Both PEG-7 glyceryl cocoate and PEG-6 CCT are emollients, not detergents. That type of detergent reminds me the same principle of co-washes, which is wrong from the cleaning perspective. I think you could benefit more from using a mild anionic surfactant combined with an amphoteric, to reduce micelle charge density and free anionic molecules.
