Can someone rec a decent ph meter for testing shampoo? I took to amazon, and they all seem to be for water and/or soil. Can I use a water one? I dont need a pro one, just something that is more accurate than ph test strips.

    Thanks in advacne.

I like the Oakton brand, they have many models with different specifications. If they are marketing it for soil or water does not matter, what is important is that they meet the resolution and accuracy that your application requires.

Not formulating shampoo—I’m not aware of any specific considerations for shampoo over other water based formulations. I did find a warning about electrodes being damaged by detergents, particularly cationic ones.

I’m impressed with the Apera PH20 for the price, though I would recommend getting the combo kit if you want to calibrate frequently and take care of it properly. The plastic solution holder makes this a lot more convenient (though be careful with this lids if you buy it—the hinges are fragile…). Readings stabilize quickly enough (30s or so) and are consistent.
I also have the PH60, but the PH20 combo kit is good enough unless you need the extra precision.

pH strips are different. These are not bad (although expensive) Camlab 1138922 pH-Fix indicator stick, pH 0.0-6.0, 6 mm x 85 mm (Pack of 100) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XS94378/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_4JXCV335S6J75PE596AX?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
