No offense, but how would a W/Si emulsion be Organic?

@Microformulation Silicon oils contain carbon atoms, hence they are organic (therefore, nearly all emulsifiers are also organic) .@Stanley: Depending on your definition of organic, you may choose between nearly all emulsifiers (organic in a chemical sense) or nearly non (organic as in organic farming). In the latter case, it depends on the certifying organism/label whether or not they have product X or Y on their list. Some do not allow any pure emulsifiers, others only lecithins, soaps (saponified oils/fats/waxes), and saponins (probably forgot 1 or 2 others…. anyway, all these are not useful for your application). You need something as synthetic as your silicone phase .

@Microformulation explain that to the biz folks that want a label claim. Other parts of the formula are there.

It doesn’t matter what the “biz” people want. Organic has a legal definition in the US. It means the product is compliant and manufactured under the USDA NOP Cosmetics program. To call a product Organic otherwise is false advertising.

@Microformulation - and if you don’t follow the USDA guidelines, your company can (probably will) get sued.
