Online store based in the US sells dangerous cosmetics
Posted by ngarayeva001 on March 12, 2019 at 10:45 amSomeone asked for my opinion on a skincare product and shared
a link in a pm. I was shocked to find out that a company is based in the US and sells moisturisers with 20%!!! of
hydroquinone and some other potentially dangerous nonsense. I genuinely believe it should be reported (to
FDA?) as someone can harm themselves.I would kindly ask the industry specialists based in the US
to share their opinion. Shall I report
(is it worth it)? what’s the process? to what agency etc.?em88 replied 5 years, 8 months ago 12 Members · 23 Replies -

They don’t make it easy but here is how you do it.

What is the company?

http://mazjin.com/shop/skin-care/monobenzone-40-depigmenting-cream/
I didn’t even notice that they have something more serious.
-
“Following treatment with 40% MB cream, the skin will be sensitive for the rest of the patient’s life.”
Wow.
-
It destroys melanocytes. This is what people with severe vitiligo use (I am not actually sure that 40% concentration is ever used)

https://www.fda.gov/Safety/ReportaProblem/default.htmYou can argue that they’re selling formulations that should be prescription only as OTC (and they are).

Jeez they have a section about formulating your own skin lightening cream.
Also, “Natural skin lightening agents are safe to handle and usually do not cause any skin reactions.”… What??

They also sell pure hydroquinone and monobenzone raw powders for DIY formulators.
What can possibly go wrong? :# 😮 -
I know a place that sells hydroquinone but I would never give that information to not professionals.

Just one out of thousands. Just browse around with ingredient name and percentage, you’ll surprise what you’re going to find. FDA ain’t doing much either unless something becomes overwhelmingly dangerous to hundreds or thousands of consumers. Yeap, U.S is a big shopping cart for many such ingredients. We no need to advertise because those who want/need such they always find what they are looking for.

I found even worse:
https://www.isis.gold/product/iris-whitener-change-eye-color/Arbutin eye drops. This is just a crime.
-
Also based in the US. https://www.isis.gold/product/lemon-hq-soap-1lbs/
Soap with hydroquinone that “Boost skin whitening result by 1000%”…
I don’t know what bothers me the most; grammar mistakes, the 1000% claim (I just want to hit that person with a math book) or hydroquinone in a soap that they recommend to store in the fridge because hello!!!! it oxidizes!!!Where is FDA????
-
I guess we can hope that their marketing is just talk to sell their products. But this talk is still dangerous for giving people the idea that those concentrations are safe, and I hope the FDA takes notice. I’ll report them too
-
The market is huge. But most people are sceptical enough not to buy eye drops promising to make brown eyes blue. At least this is what I hope.

They charge $200 for a bottle?
-
They would charge $2,000 if that actually worked. $200 for getting severe eye damage…

The grammar. Easily the grammars.
