    Hello friends:

I’ve just read some news yesterday about a product recall of dry shampoos from P&G due to traces of benzene that were higher than usual: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/pg-recalls-dry-shampoos-hair-products-due-benzene-chemical-linked-canc-rcna9413.

I understand this measure is out of precaution, but I also know there were similar recalls from P&G and some other big companies in the past (like J&J) due to the same issue.

I have some theories on why that happened (benzene traces in the propellant or alcohol -which is weird since P&G has a very strict quality control system-, or fragrance -which is also weird since there are different products with different fragrances involved-, or increased catalytic reactions due to metal surface from the metalic bottles -all products including J&J’s were canned-), but I’d like to know your take on this!

Perhaps we’re just getting better at detecting trace amounts of benzene?
I don’t know where it’s coming from but it seems to be due to specific production plants so it’s a manufacturing issue.
