Hi everyone. I try to make a water based clay pomade. I want to reach a matte finish and typical plastic pomade consistency.
    My best try is:
    beeswax - 7%
    emuwax - 7%
    candel.wax - 3,5%
    shea butter - 7,8%
    castor oil - 5,3%
    PEG 40 hydrogenated castor oil - 4,4%
    cetearyl alcohol -1,8%
    stearic asid - 2,6%
    polysorbate-80 - 1%
    water - 52,6%
    kaolin - 7%

The result is not good enough. The finish is not really matte and consistency is not plastic. Please, give me a piece of advice! Thanks!

    Hey Gororo,

From what I’m aware, the matte finish is mainly due to the proportion of Clay that you have. So maybe increase the amount of Kaolin. If you want a more plastic feel, I think you’ll need to increase your waxes and oils and decrease the amount of water.

Please list your ingredients in decreasing % so we can analyse your formulation more logically.

Add PVP for firmness. Add more Kaolin as hairluvo suggested. Try tween 20 and adjust tween 80 down a bit for more firm product.
