My second batch of lotion decreased in viscosity- why?
Hi Everyone
I have made two batches of my body lotion- on the same day at the same time.
One of the batches turned out exactly how it was supposed to and the other had a large decrease in viscosity.
The exact same ingredients with the exact same amounts were used in both body lotions so how come one turned out incorrectly? Could it be maybe that it was homogenized longer?
It does contain HEC and Carbomer and when the TEA was added to the second batch it just did not thicken up the same way the first batch did when the TEA was added. Both batches also have the exact same pH.
Here is the formula breakdown:
Light Mineral Oil
Cetyl Alcohol
Water
EDTA na2
Euxyl PE 9010
Carbomer 990
HEC
SLS Needles
Glycerine
Fragrance
TEA
Only thing I can maybe think of is that maybe it was sheered too much which broke down the HEC? Or maybe the SLS Needles broke down the HEC? But why would it do it in one and not the other?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks!
