  • Maximum usage of main surfactant in a Shampoo Bar

    Hi
I have a question regarding Sodium cocyl isethionate (or rather a single main surfactant).
Many suppliers recommended the maximum usage for this ingredient is around 50-60% in a product. When formulating a Shampoo Bar, the amount of dried ingredients needs to be high.

Typical Basic formula for shampoo bar -
    SCI 70% (main surfactant)
    Capb 7% (secondary surfactant)
Other ingredients such as cetyl alcohol, keratin, panthenol, fragrance, etc 23%

    My question -
    1. Can SCI be used more than maximum recommended percentage in a Shampoo Bar?
    2. Does the different amount of usage per application of shampoo bar compare to liquid shampoo makes it possible to use SCI more than 60%?

I know that  2 or more other surfactants such as SLSA, SCS as main surfactants can be used in addition to SCI but  my question is based on using SCI as the ONLY  single main surfactant plus Capb as a secondary surfactant.

Looking forward for expert’s thought and advice on this.
    Thank you
