Make-up Foundation
Posted by Lilablassblau on June 15, 2023 at 10:19 amHello everyone,
I am new to this site.
I want to create a Make-up foundation with this ingredients:
See photo attached!
It is the formulation of the discontinued Loreal Infallible 18 hours.
Do anybody know that the second photo exact means? Active Ingredients like for sunscreen 1.75 % Titanium dioxide. Is that mean that 0,5 g is in the 30 ml foundation bottle? Sounds for me top low because the foundation has a good coverage.
And do somebody know which High sheer Blender shall I buy for Personal use? I want to duplicate this discontinued foundation with the first 6 - 7 ingredients.
Can here somebody help me how to Start that?
Btw. I am from Germany.
Thank you,
Lila ????

No answer so far.
Which book I shall buy how to mix my foundation at home?
Introduction to Cosmetic Formulation and Technology Gabriella Baki
Cosmetic Formulation: Principles and Practice
Skincare Decoded: The Practical Guide to Beautiful Skin
Handbook of Cosmetic Science and Technology The Theory and Practice of Cosmeceuticals

The one from Dr Baki is probably the most appropriate for you, but these are industry books. They are not meant to teach people how to make things at home. Some products (like the foundation you are mentioning) need special equipment to be able to make them. You can’t make some things at home unless you have a proper lab.

The product claims to be SPF 25. The 1.75% Titanium Dioxide is the active ingredient that gives the product the SPF rating. In the US, sunscreens are categorized as over the counter drugs. So, they have to use an approved sunscreen like Titanium Dioxide to achieve the SPF rating.

As you can see on the picture the
Infallible Foundation has SPF20 not SPF25. And there is 1.75%
Titanium dioxide. I have read in a book to get SPF20 with Titanium
dioxide you need 20% of Titanium dioxide. That means in this foundation bottle it
is 30ml -> 30g20% of 30g -> 6g Titanium dioxide.
Why it is written on the ingredients
list only 1.75%. It is not correct. It should be 20% not 1.75%.Or means 1.75% per pump from the
bottle? I mean the other ingredients are not sunscreen ingredients
only the Titanium dioxide is.So I don’t understand that. If there is
really only 1.75% Titanium dioxide in 30ml bottle than the SPF is
more less than SPF20. It would be only SPF2 or SPF1.75Perry yes I know that it is not that
simple but I want to buy a High Sheer Blender for my Kitchen and I
want to mix my own foundation. Can you please suggest me a good book
where I can simple understand which Phase to heat, which Phase to mix
together and so on.Please. I want that.

Sunscreen products and Foundations are difficult projects and they require a great deal of Technical experience. In fact, I attend an Annual Seminar just for SPF products. They are hardly the purview of DIYers or Homecrafters. Please don’t take offense, but numerous statements show that you have a knowledge gap here. Research and experiment. Try to avoid Dunnings-Kruger simplifications as you proceed. Happy Formulating.

I dont know what happens in my last message.
I hope you can read that @Perry44
The foundation has SPF20 not SPF25.
I read in a book to achieve SPF20 with Titanium dioxide you need 20 % of Titanium dioxide. In 30 ml bottle it is 6 g of Titanium dioxide.
On the ingredients list it should be written 20 % not 1.75 % Titanium dioxide.
And I want to buy a High Sheer Blender to mix my Loreal foundation. Please help me which book I need?

I don’t know.
Are you typing your message in some other program, then cutting and pasting it into the forum?

I don’t have any book to recommend you. Sorry, maybe someone else in this forum will.
As far as Titanium Dioxide goes, the product is made by L’Oreal. They know how to make products and they know how to properly label them. Whatever book you read that claimed you need 20% to get an SPF 20, they are just wrong. L’Oreal knows how to do it with only 1.75%.
-
Okay but can you tell me how much Titanium dioxide in 30 ml should I put im Grams to achieve good coverage of foundation? Also only 1.75 %?
Reall no book you can suggest me? How did you learn everything? Study?
Please help me which High Sheer Blender I shall buy?
Thank you.
