    Hey Everyone, I am chem eng converting from plant design stuff to formulation and having a lot of fun may I say… so I have come up with a white liquid eyeliner and its perfect in every respect but It doesn’t dry! 

    The one that I picked up in the store NYX white liquid liner dries fast and stays put… mine remains gummy and sticky and inverts my eyelids: I can’t figure out what’s missing. Thanks in advanced!

    post the formula or else we don’t know what you’re doing.

    I can’t at the moment bc I am in a partnership with my marketing director. 
    but in general, what causes a matte liquid liner to dry?

    example:

    Ingredients are:
    Water/Aqua/Eau, Propylene Glycol, Acrylates/Octylacrylamide Copolymer, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Acetyl Tributyl Citrate, Triethylhexyl Trimellitate, Triethyl Citrate, Ethyl lactate, Xanthan gum, Aminomethyl Propanol, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin. MAY CONTAIN/PEUT CONTENIR (+/-): Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891).

    So we have to guess what your exact problem is by just looking at the LOI of a totally different product? 

    Unless you’re working on a patented formula, or having a patent pending, I really don’t understand what all the secrecy is about.

    Evaporation causes the product to dry. Without more information, that’s the best I can answer.

    Try reducing your PG and adding EtOH or IDD. As Perry said, evaporation, PG doesn’t evaporate - it slow the evaporation of water and plasticize your polymer system. EtOH and IDD evaporate quickly however use caution with this particular product type too much could cause irritation to the eyes.
