Need some suggestions on ingredients for creating a lipstick sealant. Would help keep lipstick on for hours. To help keep the color from fading. To stop lipstick transfers on cups and glasses. And…it helps prevent bleeding and feathering lipstick.

This has been the Holy Grail of lipstick formulators for  very long time.

Kiss-proof lipsticks and sealants have come and gone. Few of them staying on the market for very long.

If you have a feasible idea it would be best to show it (in confidence) to a lipstick manufacturer.

I remember using Dermacryl 79 with ethanol denat., was almost 10 years back. Not sure of anything recent though!!

I’d start by evaluating all the film-formers that are soluble in ethanol, one at a time. Just record results, don’t rule out anything yet, because you will likely need a plasticizer as well.
