I would like to understand the implications of using stearic acid and sodium stearate in saop making.I am not a professional cosmetic chemistry but I have a strong background in chemistry from college.
I have been making soap at home using crude palm oil as the 100% palm receipe but the asthestic nature of the oil has not been pretty impressive- the bar soap is quite hard, brittle and rough.
My question is can I use stearic acid or home made sodium stearate to increase the malliability of the soap?

@Betto3 I guess in opposite sodium stearate will increase the hardness of soap, I suggest to use a saponifacation calculator to see the effect try https://calc.mendrulandia.es/?lg=en
