  • Icreasing foam in SLES based Hand wash.

    I am using a Handwash formula :
    SLES (28%) - 18%
    Capb - 3%
    Cdea - 3%
    Lauryl Glucoside - 1%
    Glycerine - 0.3%
    DMDM H - 0.3%
    Perfume - 0.2%
Citric Acid - to adjust pH
    NaCl -  0.6%
    ..
My problem is, it’s not getting enough foam- it shows lather which is not foamy.
What changes I need to do in this formula.?
Can use PQ-7 as foam booster..?(which is cationic, that’s why didn’t used)
Do I need to add any other ingredients to this?
    Please suggest me something good.

@Riyas it is logic to have low foam with such formulation just increase the level of SLES and it will be fine.

I am not sure how much foam are you getting, but for hands it might be enough? You don’t really need super amount of foam for hand wash.

But if you really require more, you need to increase surfactants level - I would aim for increasing amphoteric or non-ionic. CAPB would be probably the best option here …

PQ-7 could be a good addition, .. you can definitely use it as a cationic ingredient as it won’t interfere with your anionic surfactant.

Actually my foam is slow and it’s lather. I really need good amount of foam.
As per your suggestion how much amount of CAPB can use to get enough foam? And how much should be SLES?
Can you please suggest some foam boosting ingredients to add other this..
And can you say the dosage level PQ-7..?
Can we use Cationic surfactants along with anionic surfactants?

this is a good formula it can create and big bubbles i think you’re looking for that i would recommend you to switch to SLES(70%) and reducing the percentage of CAPB and adding SDBS also check with your regulation 3% CDEA is not allowed in some places. i hope it helps
