Does anybody know of an active ingredient that I can use to add to a basic aerosol formulation that will provide waterproof protection for 3-5 days. I have tried almost every supplier I know for a hydrophobic material but I just cannot seem to get anywhere. Please offer any advice.

Combine carnauba wax with hydrophobic silica fumes like aerosil R 972 ( cmiiw), use hydrocarbon and oxygenated solvent

Excellent, thank you, i will try this and let you know. I was advised by a technician on the shop floor they used to create and aerosol spray and the active ingredient smelled like pear drops…do you think ethyl vinyl acetate and add alcohol, water and frag might work too? Just trying as many options as possible. Directors want quick launch.

@ahealy Ethylene vinyl acetate is more or less hydrophilic, which is the opposite to what you want. As @ariepfadli mentioned, waxes are good for this purpose (only the solvents you require to solubilize them are a bit too strong). There are also some silicones for the same purpose, and require more polar en less toxic solvents.
