  • How to overcome the feeling of skin tightness?

We have recipe of light cream with 17% oil fase (axol c62, tegin m pellets, cetearyl alcohol, vitis vinifera seed oil).
aqua fase:xantahn gum, propanediol, sodium gluconate, water.
Active agents are most of all panthenol (5%).
    Preservative: sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate
We noticed, that a lot of people who tested this recipe, said that skin tightness was observed (especially woman 30+).
Some people also noticed a disturbing burning sensation and red spots.
I am asking for advice on what could be the cause of this and how to remedy it.

Your product may be contaminated with microbes.

    What is the pH?

Non of those ingredients cause this at right level. Maybe if you write the percentage of all ingredients help.

Panthenol at 5% is a waste and will have an effect on the stickiness of the final product.
Again, it is important to know the pH, especially in regard to the organic acid preservative system. A chelant is also needed.

    pH of cream is 4.9.
The microbiological test came out correctly.
Sodium Gluconate as a chelat was used.

I forgot about Isoamyl Laurate (oil fase)

I think it’s preservative that causes these effects.

Some people are sensitive to potassium sorbate. It can cause redness, burning  and flushing reactions.

    @agabur

The redness, burning is definitely from the Potassium Sorbate.  Some people are also sensitive to Sodium Benzoate.

Nothing you have listed would generally cause skin tightness, but then perhaps you did not list all of the ingredients.  As noted … Panthenol at 5% is quite on the high side.

thank you for all the answers. The reaction disappeared after increasing the amount of the oil phase and addition of shea butter. Interesting….
