How to give hair wax lasting shine
Re-posting this in Formulating rather than hair in hopes to get some more help.
I have been working on a hair wax and have gotten everything where I wanted it, except that after 1/2 hr it dries from a medium shine to a matte finish.
I tried tried increasing the propylene glycol and adding Glycerine to the batch, which made it last a little longer, but still dries out.
How do I get the product to hold the shine?
Using:
Water 49% Petrolatum 6% Wax Lanolin 6% cetearyl alcohol 6% pvp/va copolymer 10% propylene glycol 4% carnuba wax 4% Ceteareth 25 3% pvp 1% mineral oil 4% ozokerite 3% Peg 40 castor oil 4% -

From my knowledge, water based waxes are famous for drying out and losing shine quickly. This is something which is hard to avoid which is why pomade lovers prefer oil based waxes for shine. You could try reducing the water to between 25 to 30% and increasing the oil / wax %.
Alternatively if you want long lasting shine just make an oil based wax. It may be heavier and not wash out as easily but it will give you the results you are looking for.

You could also try adding a silicone like Dimethicone or Amodimethicone

@ajw000 i think vegetable glycerin and MPG can be good solution for hair shining .
