  • how to gell 2% salicylic acid solution

    Dear chemists
I have a simple 2% Salicylic acid 30%PG solution. I wanted more consistency so I used guar gum (I can’t find good xanthan gum here) and NaOH to adjust the pH. To my knowledge NaOH is odorless but I was surprised by the smell I found at the end which I couldn’t get rid of. Any suggestions on what I should change while keeping it cost effective?

    Have you tried Hydroxypropylcellulose?
