  • How to fix or adjust the color of cream due to very dark brown color of one key ingredient

    Dear Friends,

I ran into the problem of unwanted color (brown) on my facial lotion. This unwanted medium dark brown color is from sea buckthorn oil ( enriches with omega 3, 6, 7 ).
How do I fix it for next trial?

    Thanks for all inputs.

Sea buckthorn oil is a very intense red color and it will color just about any formula it is used in.  There is a Sea Buckthorn Extract, but it is crazy expensive and of course will not be rich in the omegas.

I really don’t think there is a good “fix” for this.  Normally, any lotion/cream with a modicum of Sea Buckthorn oil in it will be orange.  You can cut back on the Sea Buckthorn to lighten the color, but it will have some color.

Sea buckthorn berry oil is red, but you could also use sea buckthorn seed oil which is yellow in color. From what I’ve seen it is still high in the omega 3 and 6.

@EVchem thank you so much. I will try it. I think the sea buckthorn oil that I use now is the combination of seed and sea buckthorn fruit.
