  • How little surfactant can one use in a face wash while still being effective?

Hi, I am curious to know your thoughts on how little Active Surfactant Matter could be used in a face wash before it becomes useless?

For instance, in a case where the skin is severely dehydrated and very little cleansing is actually needed, but a cleanser is desired to remove the feeling of “daily grime”…

Could one get away with using 3-4% active surfactant matter? Or is this a waste of ingredient?

With micellar waters that is exactly what people are doing, adding small amounts of surfactant ( almost definitely not higher than 4%) . Whether it is a ‘waste’ or not just depends on user perception.

The answer depends on what you mean by “effective.”  Just splashing water on your face might remove the feeling of daily grime.  A little surfactant may remove a little dirt. Certainly 3-4% would have some effect.  I’d think even 1% might.
