  • How do you guys compare the skin feel of two products?

I currently make moisturizer and the first two ingredients after water are glycerin and petrolatum. The skin feel was not very important until now but i am receiving feedbacks that some people dont like how it feels when they apply it to face. So i wanted to compare the feeling of it with other products that have high glycerin and petrolatum. When i applied two other products i didn’t notice much difference.

My question is how do you guys compare the feeling of your product with other products?
Do you apply yours to one side of face and commercial product to other side?
Or when you can’t feel the difference and want other people to check it, do you give them samples of your products and the commercial one that you have purchased to each one of them to check?

Or whatever you do that i can do too?????

When I compare creams for feel and texture, I also test on my hands, I find my fingers are more sensitive. I repeat applications over several days before making a judgment.  I also give samples to friends to confirm my assessment. I use the same neutral packaging for both and, I do not tell them anything about the source of the creams so they can have a neutral judgment. Product feel is important for a face cream, it cannot feel too greasy.

I think it’s important to ask them why that is the case, and what they don’t like about how it feels. Perhaps they are just not used to the formulation or the previous products they have applied makes the application of your product make them feel uncomfortable.

For my own testing, i will apply on the back of my hands, then do a half face with another formulation that i want to test.

For me, i do simultan test by test with rub both my palm to make same perception both hand then put same amount of product to palm hand then both hand crosses ( right hand rub left arm, left hand rub right arm) rub to my arm, then feel drag, and another perception during rubing my skin simultanously

Do not touch anything with you hand after rubbing and make same perception, ask somebody to put sample to both your hand
