How do I make a replica of this?
Posted by Majman on September 9, 2018 at 12:12 pmI’m trying to make a replica of this Elta sunscreen. What and what ingredients would be easily accessible and quite easy to work with please.

It is likely that the bulk of these ingredients are not available in that region. In that case, I would discard that standard and select a less complicated base.

Thanks @Microformulation so if I go with grapeseed oil,, tamanu oil, Argan oil, jojoba oil, zinc oxide, e-wax, niacinamide, pine bark extract, guava leaves extract, goji berry liquid extract, licorice root extract, moringa leaf extract, phynoxyethanol germall plus . .what do u think of these line of ingredients?

I think that is nowhere near the standard. Also, with what you are using you have no SPF protection. Honestly, sunscreens are advanced Formulations. With the limitations in materials as well as the Technical gap, you would be best not to do a sunscreen.

The product you are proposing will be very different from the benchmark product above because:
1) The product above doesn’t have vegetable oils you listed (some of which are not very stable due to high content of linoleic acid). The product above uses “synthetic” emollients.
2) The product above uses a polymer (Sepinov EMT) as an emulsifier. You will not achieve the same texture and application with “ewax”
3) What is “ewax”?
4) I am guessing you are trying to add skin brightening properties to your sunscreen by adding extracts, however these extracts are marketing claim ingredients but they will not do much for the skin brightening.
So maybe you should keep it simple, skip most of these extracts and oils and make a simple lotion with Zinc oxide. Also, add a humectant (glyceryin, butylene glycol etc.)
