Hair Gel
Posted by RRR on March 2, 2019 at 6:22 amHi,
Can anyone give me any info on the raw material Carbomer for Hair Gel? Does it give gel the really clear substance or does it help with the hold of the gel?

Carbomer is a rheology modifier. There are many types, some are more clear than others. It doesn’t give a hold.

Thank you for the fast response. So pretty much it acts as a thickening agent helping to avoid runny or dripping gel?

Yes. You need a firm former for the hold. For example PVP.

i know what is pvp and his role but what is (firm former ) mean

Thank you!! Last question…. Guar Gum & Carbomer acts the same in creating gel? Meaning both are thickening agents and when dispersed into water will swell and thicken up to create a styling gel?
