Guidance on Ingredient Registration and SDS Requirements
Hello,
We are a startup distributor preparing to bring three new ingredients to market. For one of them—an oil extract produced via the CO₂ method—we already have the INCI and CAS numbers assigned. Our question is: can we use these freely, or do we need to apply to the Personal Care Products Council (PCPC) for permission to use them commercially?
For the other two ingredients, we understand that we’ll need to apply for new INCI names and CAS numbers. Could you advise us on the steps involved in registering a new INCI name and obtaining a CAS number?
Additionally, we’re conducting testing in-house at our lab. As a chemist, can I prepare and sign off on the Safety Data Sheets (SDS), or is a third party required for this step?
Lastly, if you know any senior chemists available for freelance or hourly collaboration, we’d be happy to connect and potentially work together.
Thank you,
