    Hi everyone,

First time poster, but I’ve been reading your forum for quite some time as I’ve been having fun making a new kind of soap.

I wanted to get your feedback on the process and procedure I’ve been following. Chances are I’m doing things wrong, which has led to a few hurdles. The main issue I’ve been having is making a shelf stable product, as for a while the polymer I was using was making the soap too thick, so the pump on the bottle wasn’t strong enough to get it out. With the below recipe however, I realized that after a month or so the pumice would sink to the bottom, making it not stable for long term use.

    Most Recent Formula:

Step 1. 200 ml of sink water (can switch to de-ionized once I have a better handle on if I’m in the right neighborhood of a working recipe)

Step 2. Gather 15 ml of Carbopol Aqua SF-1

Step 3. Pour SF-1 slowly while mixing with turbine blade (attached to drill) and mix on slow for 45 seconds.

Step 4. Add 250 ml of Nature’s Oil Castille soap, mix slowly

Step5. Add pumice and fragrance oils.

Any thoughts / advice would be greatly appreciated! I’ve been considering switching to mica as I hear it’s better than using pumice. The other option would be making it thick, but then just buying a better pump. Also, any advice on dying the soap a different color would be great too. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
