    why all the conundrum 
    uk approves chromium ultramarines etc for lip use.
    and funky old usa says no..

    uk state food colorant can lead to adhd. 
    us says NO.. 
    this is ridiculous. 
    anyone can explain this…. It is quite silly..

    it is inevitable that legislative institutes on two separate continents, who generally don’t work with each other and have very different processes, will come to different conclusions about certain things

    also, the European Food Standards Agency (who have the final say on what is or isn’t acceptable in food) doesn’t believe artificial colorants can cause hyperactivity either, simply because there’s no scientific evidence for it whatsoever; despite the best efforts of consumer pressure groups, they are still perfectly legal in this country

    Regulations are based on politics not on ingredient safety data.

    If these things were based on science, there would be harmonization across the world.  Unfortunately, they are not.
