    Hello,

I am looking to formulate an O/W Emulsion, however, I would like to replace the current emulsifiers; Treithanolamine and Stearic Acid, with a naturally derived emulsifier and wanted to know if anyone has any recommendations on a suitable replacement? I am currently considering symbio®mul GC.

On another note, in the same formulation, I would like to replace the current preservatives; Methylparaben & Propylparaben, with a naturally derived preservative. I am looking at Dermosoft 1388 and Dermosoft GMCY - do these look like suitable replacements?

Any help would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Zoe

    Hello  Zoe,

Triethanolamine and Stearic acid are not emulsifiers, unless you are reacting them together, in which case you have triethanolamine stearate (which is a surfactant, but used in soap and not in creams). In any case, without the formula there is little that can be done.

Yes, including the entire list of ingredients would help encourage more people to answer.

Prepare yourself for Dermosoft GMCY to really lower the viscosity of your formula. I’m a coschem so it’s possible I’ve used it in a wrong way or I simply didn’t know how to thicken it back efficiently. Just giving you heads up that you should probably plan your formula with more thickener end emulsifier than you would normally do.
